Illinois Statewide School Management Alliance (Alliance)
The IASA is part of the Illinois Statewide School Management Alliance, which includes the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) and the Illinois Principals Association (IPA). The Alliance is guided by the executive directors and boards of the participating organizations, including the Executive Director of the IASA.
Speaking with a unified voice and providing a comprehensive lobbying effort on behalf of administrators, principals, school board members and business officials are the main goals of the Alliance. The lobbying team includes individuals with more than a half-century of cumulative legislative experience and a full complement of governmental backgrounds to represent all of the educational interests that make up the Alliance and all geographic regions of the state.
The Alliance lobbyists are present in the State Capitol on every legislative day. They track legislation that has an impact on education, including education reform, forced consolidation, the education budgets, pensions, curriculum and policy, taxation, transportation, open meetings and freedom of information, just to name a few. Typically, there can be more than 700 bills in any given year that must be tracked because of their potential impact on public education.
