Who can join?
IASA Active Membership is available to individuals who are employed in Illinois and are contributing to the Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) who are:
- Employed as a school administrator;
- An administrative staff member of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) or the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), provided that person previously worked as a school administrator; or
- A superintendent or assistant superintendent of a Regional Office of Education (ROE) or an educational cooperative of school systems.
The membership year begins July 1. Cost of Active Membership is 0.7 percent of gross annual compensation as reported to TRS

Active Membership
IASA Active Membership is available to individuals contributing to the Teachers' Retirement System who are employed in Illinois as a school administrator, an administrative staff member of the Illinois State Board of Education, an administrative staff member of the Illinois Association of School Boards (provided such person has previously worked as a school administrator), a superintendent/assistant superintendent of a regional office of education or an educational cooperative of school systems. Full-Time Professor Membership
IASA Full-Time Professor Membership is available to full-time professors of education or educational administration at an accredited institution of higher education in Illinois. Click here to print a copy of the IASA Professor Membership Invoice.
Retired Membership
Retired membership is available to a person who has retired from the profession of school administration and who was an Active or Full-Time Professor Member at the time of such retirement. Retired Members receive the IASA Membership Directory, IASA Newsletter and Annual Conference Materials. In addition, the registration fee is waived for retired members attending the annual conference who are not representing a school district, firm or vendor. School Service Membership
IASA School Service Membership is available to any business that sells supplies, equipment or services to public schools in Illinois. School Service Members receive regular mailings of the IASA Newsletter, a copy of the IASA Membership Directory, and have access to services which would provide contact with Illinois school administrators. Associate Membership
IASA Associate Membership is available to an individual who is actively pursuing a career in school administration and is not eligible for Active Member status. Associate Members are entitled to receive regular mailings of the IASA Newsletter and access to view job postings on the Illinois Education Job Bank (IEJB).
Student Membership
IASA Student Membership status is available to a person who has not achieved certification as a superintendent, has a master's degree, and is currently enrolled as a graduate student in a recognized program in school administration. Verification of such status must be made by an IASA member who is a full-time professor of education or educational administration in Illinois at the college in which the student is enrolled. No one may hold Student Member status for more than three years. Student Members are entitled to receive regular mailings of the IASA Newsletter and access to view job postings on the Illinois Education Job Bank (IEJB).
Interim Education Service Corps
The Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) formed the IASA Interim Education Service Corps for professors, retired and soon to be retired school administrators wishing to remain active as a practicing administrator/consultant. The Corps is aimed at addressing particular special needs of school districts, which surface during the course of a school year.
