OPEN! Finance Knowledge for the Superintendent & Understanding for the Learning Community-AAC #1202
Description
This academy will provide fundamental knowledge and skills for Superintendents and the learning community that include financial school law and calendar, administrative control measures, preparing the board of education for community discussions of finance issues and financial reports for the learning community.
Participants will receive a “flash drive” which will have the financial data from 1999-2015 from the Annual Financial Reports (AFRs) and the budget figures from FY16 (2015-16) provided by the school district, downloaded on the drive by the ISBE. The ISBE Forecasting model will be used and participants will be able to work with their own school district’s data in the workshop.
Dr. William Phillips, IASA Field Services Director and ISBE Regional Financial Consultants will provide additional information on tax levy preparation, borrowing, school district finance cycles, and making school finance presentations to your school board and community. You will need to register at least one week prior to the workshop to insure that ISBE will have adequate time to download the financial information for your school district.
Please bring a laptop computer with Microsoft Excel 2010 or newer.
Registration Fee: $200.00 per person. Registration includes a continental breakfast, lunch and materials (including flash drive from ISBE). Payment may be made by check, credit card (Visa or Master Card only), or purchase order.
Cancellations: Refunds will be granted if the IASA office receives the cancellation notice seven days prior to the course. If notice is received less than seven days prior to the event, the registration fee will be forfeited.
