About the IASA President

Dr. Jay Morrow is in his 20th year as superintendent of United Township High School District #30 in East Moline. He has spent his entire career in the district, joining UTHS in 1994 as a business teacher. A first-generation college student, Dr. Morrow has made expanding opportunity a hallmark of his tenure. Under his leadership, the district raised its graduation rate from between 70 and 80 percent to above 90 percent, including graduation rates over 90 percent for Hispanic and African American students. Students at United Twp HSD #30 can earn more than 30 college credit hours at no additional cost, and the district has established five ISBE-approved career pathways through its Area Career Center and partnerships with industry leaders like John Deere, offering juniors and seniors hands-on apprenticeship opportunities during school hours. The district has also expanded access to the state Seal of Biliteracy and reimagined its alternative education program to keep students on track to graduate. Since 2020, Dr. Morrow has served on the IASA Board of Directors. He also served on the Vision 2020 Workgroup and IASA COVID-19 Task Force, and is a member of numerous community groups, including the Rotary Club and United Way of the Quad-Cities Education Council.
