• Communication Strategies and the Modern Superintendency - AA #1761

    This course will be part of a week-long Aspiring Superintendent Academy offered through Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA), but could also be offered as a stand-alone Academy. It will address issues of professional social media usage, encouragement of student agency and leadership, communication strategies during and after crisis situations, and developing an entry plan for new superintendents to introduce themselves to a community and begin building relationships.

     Outcomes:

    • Participants will be able to expand their professional usage of social media to connect with the school and community.
    • Participants will be able to expand their own professional learning networks with other colleagues.
    • Participants will be able to practice communication strategies during and after sample emergency scenarios.
    • Participants will be able to develop an entry plan to use when becoming a superintendent, changing to a new position, or confronting a new program.
