This event is complete and will be scheduled again in 2022
Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 IASA Aspiring Superintendents Academy scheduled July 5-9, 2021, in Springfield (at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel). This five-day academy (reception on July 5) is intended for school leaders wondering if becoming a superintendent is the right choice for them. The learning classes will be organized to provide for active learning as well as daily reflection time. In addition, there will be many simulations during the four-days for hands-on learning opportunities and a chance to do virtual mock interviews with superintendent search firms.
The learning academy will hone participants’ leadership knowledge and skills and give them a view of the modern superintendency. This summer learning academy, aligned with the ISLLC Standards, will be a fast-paced, authentic Learning Academy where attendees will participate in simulations and produce meaningful artifacts that reflect the current expectations of the job of the superintendent.
Learning class topics include:
- School District Leadership
- Communication Strategies
- School District Planning & Operations
- School Finance, Advocacy & Law
